Something To Suit Every Taste
Salt Lake City is home to wonderful shopping opportunities to suit any interest. The city's selection of specialty retailers, art galleries, and malls gives visitors yet another exciting choice of things to do in Salt Lake City at any time of year.
Guests of the Grand America are in the perfect location to take advantage of everything the city has to offer. Excellent shopping is available within minutes of the hotel, and easily accessible on foot, or by car or TRAX train.
The Gateway Mall, located downtown off 400 West between South Temple and 300 South, is Salt Lake City's newest open-air contemporary destination. Over 125 shops and restaurants deliver the ultimate in shopping, dining and entertainment. The Gateway's Olympic Legacy Plaza featuring the "dancing waters" of the Olympic Snowflake Fountain is a favorite summer treat for kids of all ages.
Across town, antique lovers can browse through an interesting variety of antiques and collectibles in Salt Lake City's Antique District, located on Broadway (300 South) between 200 East and 400 East. The ever-changing selection means there's always a chance of uncovering a treasure. And since the stores are happy to pack and ship for you, don't hesitate to grab that perfect Chippendale dresser!
Sam Weller's Zion Bookstore is a must stop if you're a bibliophile. One of Salt Lake City's oldest independent bookstores, it has an old bookstore feel with (uncluttered) wall-to-wall books. Their rare book section and coffee bar ensures a comfortable morning or afternoon's browsing. More happy hours of book browsing can be had at The Golden Braid or Deseret Books, as well as the usual large chain bookstores.
If you yearn for a kinder, gentler time before email and texting, locally-owned Tabula Rasa Stationers in nearby Trolley Square Mall offers beautiful fountain pens, inks, sealing waxes and leather bound journals. Also check out the local small art galleries in the Pierpont District for handmade papers and cards.
A little further afield, but definitely worth the trip, is a day's excursion to Park City. Park City's Main Street is a shopper's paradise of boutique stores and art galleries. The Tanger Outlet Center is located a few miles outside of Park City and offers deep discounts on over 60 brand name outlets.
Of course, no trip to Salt Lake would be complete without checking out the unique merchandise in the Grand America shops, located in the lobby. The Men's Shop, The Ladies Shop, The Children's Shop, and The Vera Bradley Boutique can help you find that perfect gift for a loved one at home. Or just indulge yourself and pick up that sweater, piece of jewelry, or new tie that you can't live without. You can arrange for your purchase to be delivered to your room, or we're happy to arrange shipping to the destination of your choice.
