January is a month for embracing all things new—whether adopting new perspectives, building new daily routines, or chasing after new life experiences. Located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, The Grand America is the perfect place to dive into the newness of the New Year. Looking to add to your resolution list? Here is our guide to trying something new this January.

Yoga & Beer at The Gateway: For experienced yogis, this is your opportunity to integrate new poses—specifically designed for beer-holding—into your usual practice. For those who are new to the practice, this is your opportunity to ease into the yoga flows, and to reward yourself with a post-workout beer. All are welcome each Wednesday at The Gateway from 6pm-7pm. Yoga is free. Beer is $5. More information and space reservation available here.

The One Day Diet with Wendy Alley Pierson: Looking for ways to build healthy eating habits without falling prey to diet culture? The One Day Diet offers a realistic approach to a healthy lifestyle. While making gentle choices for your mind and body using daily principles, affirmations, and committed actions, true long-term change will occur. Join author Wendy Alley Pierson at The King’s English bookstore on January 14th from 2pm-3pm for an in-person discussion and book signing. More information available here.

Wine Night Series: “Oh Natural—The French Way!”: Always wanted to know a little about wine, but never felt welcome in sommelier-spaces? Join local café Tea Zaanti for their Special Order Wine Night series, and gain knowledge about different wines in a warm and relaxed environment. January 19th, 5-7pm. Visit their site for more details.

Eccles Organ Festival Recital: Want to add some musical education to your resolutions? Experience the rare beauty of a classical organ concert played among rich gothic architecture at the Cathedral of the Madeline. The 29th season of the Eccles Organ Festival continues on January 8th at 8pm with a recital by Scott Dettra. Praised as a “brilliant organist” (Dallas Morning News), an “outstanding musician” (The Diapason), and described as a “prodigy” by The New York Times at age 13, Scott Dettra is acclaimed as one of America’s leading concert organists.
